Creating an educational environment that is close to a related industrial facility has become essential in an era when economies are trying to bridge the gaps left between traditional technical education and industrial practice. The Toyota Workshop and Engineering School affords this kind of environment on the University of Ghana campus where students are able to learn directly from real world problem-solving in Toyota’s automotive workshop.
Over 15% of the total floor area of the development is dedicated to the engineering school that is equipped with lecture rooms, a library, a practical training lab, a CAD room, and offices within a courtyard configuration that conveniently connects all the operations of the school and facilitate knowledge sharing. The main facility is divided into two major parts: the administration block and the workshop where all the technical operations take place. A visual connection is created between the administration block and the workshop for both staff and clients to experience the processes that take place in the technical areas.
