Located in Tema, the Seth Att House is a visual representation of vernacular profundity that captures one’s attention on immediate encounter. The two-unit four-bedroom house, situated in the middle of a layered green hierarchy (from grass, through mid-sized shrubs, to taller trees), is thoughtfully designed to serve users and observers with a range of experiential qualities.
Materiality was an essential design element that drew both visual and somatosensory energy from bold architectural features located at different ranges and heights of the building, as well as textured wall finishes coupled with a variety of concerted colours. The house provides spacious indoor spaces that support the mundaneness of domestic living but offers spatial opportunities to go beyond the routine, yet the design of the outdoor milieu draws occupants out to enjoy both its warmth within a supportive tropical climate.
