Located in the burgeoning Appolonia City Industrial Park in the Greater Accra Region, the MainOne Data Center was designed to house equipment and operations that facilitate the storage, processing, and dissemination of data.
Designed for MainData Ghana Limited, the intention was to develop a facility that would efficiently and seamlessly connect both office and technical operations under the same roof while maintaining a stable and reliable energy provision system.
Its exterior symmetrical form transcends to its interior configuration to assist in wayfinding for convenient human
circulation as well as the movement of gadgets and the intricate network of data cabling that flows through it. Notwithstanding the need for connectivity of diverse internal activities, there is still a separation between the administrative spaces and purely technical ones that have controlled access to people.
The design afforded an opportunity to skilfully programme an efficient technical environment while delivering a spectacular design piece that subtly conceals the various layers of the quasi-industrial networks and activities within its interior and surrounding spaces.
