Standing between the north-western bend of the Ndabaningi Sithole Road in Labone, the KGL House was designed to engage street users with its striking form and landscaping that collectively celebrate the apron leading to the entrance door. It is an edifice that emphasizes the essence of mid-rise buildings that provide substantial square areas for administrative and commercial activities without adding imposing heights to the urbanscape.
The building has a total floor area of 4716m2 with a net lettable floor area of 3402m2 representing over 70% of the total floor area. A floor area ratio (FAR) of 3.0 was achieved on a 0.36-acre land indicating an economical use of the land in terms of urban density. The fifth level, added to the existing four-storey building redesigned by the design team, houses the Chairman’s office, the boardroom with ancillary office spaces, and two separate roof terraces with one having views of the Atlantic Ocean and adorned with potted plants. The terraces, with spectacular elevated views of the cityscape of parts of the coastal districts of the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area, are ideal for team building events and for hosting semi-formal business meetings.
